Congress Funds Homeland Security, Ends Shutdown

The U.S. Congress passed legislation this week restoring federal funding to its agencies, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. However, none of the disagreements over policy that led to the shutdown have been resolved when the House approved a partial funding package that was passed by the Senate more than a month ago. President Donald Trump is expected to sign the bipartisan legislation, which will fully fund the TSA, FEMA, Secret Service, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The package does not fund Border Patrol and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
