Community Charging Grant Awarded, Townships Get Two
PennDOT has announced Community Charging Round 1 – Southeastern Region awards to 71 projects totaling over $37 million in federal NEVI investment. This investment will build more publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties as part of the Community Charging phase of the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program.
Two townships were the only municipalities to receive grants in this round.
- Buckingham Township, Bucks County, received $110,820 for four Level 2 charging ports at Holicong Park in Buckingham.
- East Vincent Township, Chester County, received $97,600 for four Level 2 charging ports at the East Vincent Township Building in Spring City
The NEVI Projects Map includes information about all the new project awards, or check out the press release here. These projects will collectively increase the number of publicly available charging ports in southeastern Pennsylvania by 27%. Curious how many EVs are in your area? Pennsylvania EV registrations can be viewed by county and by zip code via the PennDOT EV Registrations Map.
