Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County will soon be home to Chobani’s first dairy product manufacturing operation in Pennsylvania. The company, known best for its yogurt and other dairy products, will take over the 1.5 million-square-foot facility previously owned by Keurig Dr. Pepper. Chobani’s expansion brings an estimated $1.2 billion investment. The facility is expected to process more than three billion pounds of milk annually and expand markets for the estimated 4,000 dairy farmers in the state. Pennsylvania notably has the second-highest number of dairy farms in the nation. 

Key local partners supporting the project include several townships: Upper Macungie, Lower Macungie, and South Whitehall townships, in addition to the Lehigh County Authority and the City of Allentown. Additionally, this project will be funded in part by $50 million in loans and grants through the Pennsylvania Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites (PA SITES) Program to support infrastructure and site improvements necessary for the project and broader regional economic development. Click here to read the press release.
