The state Department of Health announced another round of WalkWorks Capacity-Building pre-planning assistance toward the development of active transportation plans. Funding is available for townships to create a plan to identify and prioritize projects related to modes of active transportation with an emphasis on walking, biking, using a wheelchair, and public transit.
Townships in State Physical Activity and Nutrition or Diabetes target counties (Berks, Clearfield, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Lackawanna, Lawrence, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Mercer, Northumberland) and any community with an overall rating above 60% in DEP’s PennEnviroScreen Tool are eligible to apply through July 17, 2026.
