Federal Bridge Investment Program Funding Opportunity
The U.S. Department of Transportation is accepting applications for over $4 billion in funding in the FY2026 Bridge Investment Program (BIP) to improve the safety, condition, and efficiency of bridges. Townships are eligible to apply for BIP funding directly to FHWA for the following grants:
- Planning Grants for planning, feasibility analyses, and revenue forecasting associated with the development of a project to become eligible for BIP funds. Applications due June 15, 2026
- Bridge Grants to replace, rehabilitate, preserve, or protect one or more bridges on the National Bridge Inventory (NBI) with total eligible costs of $100 million or less. Projects can include bridge bundling and culverts on the NBI. Applications due June 29, 2026

Reminder: Certified Host Municipality Inspector Reimbursements Due Today
DEP reimbursement applications for the 2025 Host Municipality Inspector Program are due today. Townships that have a municipal waste landfill, resource recovery facility or commercial hazardous waste storage, treatment and disposal facility located within its borders are eligible to apply.
DEP awards reimbursements for authorized costs incurred for salary and expenses of up to two DEP-certified host municipality inspectors, not to exceed 50% of the approved costs.
