U.S. DOT Rebuilding American Infrastructure Grant Opportunity for Roads, Stormwater 

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has published a Notice of Funding Opportunity for $1.5 billion in funding through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program for 2023. Townships are eligible to apply through Grants.gov and the deadline for applications is February 28, 2023.  

Capital and planning projects are eligible for RAISE grants, including:  

  • Highway, bridge, and other road projects  
  • Public transportation   
  • Port infrastructure investments  
  • Intermodal projects  
  • Replace or rehabilitate culverts or prevent stormwater runoff to improve aquatic species habitats   
  • Planning, preparation, or design (for example- environmental analysis, feasibility studies, benefit cost analysis, and other pre-construction activities) of eligible capital projects  

The FY23 RAISE funding will be equally divided between rural and urban area projects. USDOT is offering a series of webinars on the application process, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
