Townships “Run The Table” at Governor’s Awards for Excellence

Acting Secretary of Community and Economic Development Neil Weaver today recognized municipalities and local government officials for their dedication and commitment to strengthen their communities and better serve their residents.

“It’s an honor to recognize all of these local officials, governments, and organizations for their achievements over the past year,” Weaver said. “More than any other level of government, local government has the greatest impact on our day-to-day lives.

After 2 years of virtual events, the first “live” awards were dominated by townships. “It’s no wonder that when the chips are down and the odds are long, township innovation will figure out new ways to serve their residents with quality services at an affordable cost,” PSATS Executive Director Dave Sanko says. “I don’t ever recall a time when townships won so much recognition from these annual awards!

Eleven communities, two organizations, and eight individuals from across the commonwealth were recognized for excellent service as part of the 26th Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence.
