Township Voters Consider Tax, Board Expansion Referenda

Across the Commonwealth, townships conducted referenda during the 2026 election on issues from changing board size, to dedicated taxes. In Pennsylvania, only questions authorized in state law may be placed before the voters. Here are several that PSATS was made aware of after publishing yesterday’s article on referenda results.

Board expansion: Voters in Dallas Township, Luzerne County, and Jenkins Township, Luzerne County rejected an expansion to their board of supervisors from 3 to 5.

Taxes: Bethel Township, Delaware County voters approved a library tax increase from .027 mills to .037 mills.
