Safe Streets and Roads for All Grants Available

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration is accepting applications for the FY2024 round of funding under the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. This program was created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support local initiatives to prevent transportation-related death and serious injury on roads and streets.  Townships are eligible to apply for projects supporting planning, infrastructure, behavioral, and operational initiatives to prevent death and serious injury on roads and streets involving all roadway users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, and commercial vehicle operators.     The SS4A program provides funding for two types of grants:     Planning and Demonstration Grants to develop, complete, or update a comprehensive safety action plan, a well-defined strategy to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries in a locality. Planning and Demonstration Grants have three application deadlines: April 4, May 16, and August 29, 2024. Following each deadline, USDOT will review applications received to date. Implementation Grants to implement strategies or projects, including construction projects, consistent with an existing Action Plan. The Implementation Grants application deadline is May 16, 2024.  For more information, including the notice of funding, how to apply, frequently asked questions, and webinars, visit the SS4A Program Page on USDOT’s website.
