The U.S. Department of Transportation is accepting applications for over $4 billion in funding in the FY2026 Bridge Investment Program (BIP) to improve the safety, condition, and efficiency of bridges. Townships are eligible to apply for BIP funding directly to FHWA for Bridge Grants to replace, rehabilitate, preserve, or protect one or more bridges on the National Bridge Inventory (NBI) with total eligible costs of $100 million or less. Projects can include bridge bundling and culverts on the NBI. Applications are due June 29, 2026
