Police Commission Issues Temporary Regulations on Background Checks

The Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission has published a temporary rulemaking to implement Act 57 of 2020, which creates a database for law enforcement officer records and requires disclosure of employment information to law enforcement agencies conducting background investigations of applicants for law enforcement positions. The rulemaking addresses confidentiality of employment information, database security, reportable disciplinary actions, and criminal conduct and will take effect July 14, 2021

Comments on the temporary rulemaking may be submitted by April 5, 2021, to Sgt.
