Inflation Continues to Set Records

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers on Friday and it showed a 1% increase in prices during May and 8.6% inflation over the 12 months ending May, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending December 1981. Not surprisingly, the energy index rose 34.6% over the last year and the food index increased by 10.1% the previous 12 months, the first increase of 10% or more since March 1981.
