Last week, ground was officially broken in Somerset County for Pennsylvania’s first permanent statewide memorial that will be dedicated to fallen firefighters. Located near the Flight 93 National Memorial, the memorial will be constructed at the “Remember Me Rose Garden,” which is a living tribute to those who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The new memorial is a collaborative project between the Garden and the Pennsylvania Fallen Firefighters Foundation and is designed to provide a permanent place of honor and recognition for all Pennsylvania firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
