Tomorrow is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
Just in time for tomorrow’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, the state Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) released a simple step-by-step guide to help Pennsylvanians safely dispose of unused or unwanted medications. Sites will be available tomorrow, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To find the closest safe and convenient take back location, click here for Pennsylvania’s location finder.
The DEA has offered Drug Take-Back Day since 2010 with the goal of fighting prescription drug misuse by creating convenient ways to dispose of medication that could otherwise be at risk of misuse. During the most recent Drug Take-Back Day in April 2026, the DEA collected more than 28,000 pounds of unused medication in Pennsylvania alone across 210 collection sites.
Since Pennsylvania’s program began in 2015 years ago, 846 tons of prescription medication has been destroyed. For more information on National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, go to https://takebackday.dea.gov/.
