The Pennsylvania Supreme Court this week agreed to decide whether more than 1,000 people serving life without parole in Pennsylvania prisons on second-degree murder convictions can request resentencing , TribLIVE reports. In a seismic March ruling, the high court deemed automatic life sentences without parole for second-degree murder unconstitutional, leaving it to state lawmakers to write a new sentencing law and potentially address the issue of retroactivity.
