The state Department of Transportation announced that 86 municipalities across the commonwealth will receive $38 million through the Green Light-Go Program to improve traffic safety and mobility by reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. More than 40 townships will receive awards. Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursements to municipalities for projects that improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. 

“The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program will help municipalities keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently. I’m proud that PennDOT continues to partner with communities to deliver real results”, said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. 

Here are a few of the townships that will receive grants:  

• Marshall Township, Allegheny County, will receive $345,700 to improve 14 intersections. 

• Spring Township, Berks County, will receive $1 million for traffic signal modernization and safety improvements at more than two dozen intersections. 

• Summit Township, Erie County, will receive $533,988 for traffic signal upgrades at six intersections. 

• Antrim Township, Franklin County, will receive $523,808 for traffic signal upgrades at six signalized intersections. 

• Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County, will receive $466,760 to implement traffic signal safety and operation upgrades at eight identified intersections on the township’s High Injury Network. 

• Somerset Township will receive $1,130,000 for traffic signal equipment modernization at 10 intersections.
