Pennsylvania Doubles Solar Power Generation in Just 17 Months

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), Department of Environmental Protection, and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced in a press release that 2 gigawatts (GW) of installed solar generation are now operating across the commonwealth, just 17 months after reaching the 1 GW milestone in late 2023.

Roughly 47% of the 2 GW comes from utility-scale solar projects that feed directly into the regional power grid. Over 500 MW of new grid-scale solar is already under construction across the commonwealth.

Looking for resources for solar development? PSATS is hosting 1-hour sessions on grid-scale solar at our in-person Regional Forums in Erie on August 6 and Lancaster on August 14. Keep an eye on the Education Catalog for additional training on this hot topic in your area.
