In advance of the country’s 250th celebrations next year, the U.S. Army is holdings its 250th Birthday Celebration this weekend in Philadelphia, where it was formed. June 14, Flag Day, marks 250 years since the formation of the U.S. Army in the former U.S. Capital, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and where George Washington was named the first commander of the Army. The celebration will begin in Valley Forge and continue in Philadelphia, including a parade and commemoration of Washington’s Commissioning, 250 years to the day! To learn more, click here.
