Shapiro Administration Awards Grants to Improve Crosswalks, Trails
The state Department of Transportation announced grand awards totaling more than $49.5 million in 55 projects that will improve the accessibility of biking and walking paths, pedestrian access to public transportation, community improvement activities, environmental mitigation projects, and trails. Funded by the Surface Transportation Block Grant program Set-Aside, the program also includes safe routes to school projects.
Townships across the state received grants, including Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County to extend the township’s sidewalk network to make important connections between neighborhoods and key destinations; South Lebanon Township, Lebanon County to connect the township to a park and an established trail network; and Clinton Township, Wyoming County for a trail system connecting parks.
