Treasury Returns Second Round of Unclaimed Property Automatically
State Treasurer Stacy Garrity sent checks to nearly 40,000 Pennsylvanians automatically returning unclaimed property to them as part of the new Pennsylvania Money Match Program, approved by legislators last year. This second round of checks returned single-owner unclaimed property of up to $500 after an identification and verification process that was modeled after similar programs in other states.
While your township may benefit from this program, don’t wait to find out if your township is owed unclaimed property. The PA Treasury Department receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property each year, including savings or checking accounts, stocks, dividends, checks that have not been cashed, such as payroll, certificates of deposit, unclaimed insurance benefits, insurance premium refunds, and the like.
Don’t miss out! Take a few minutes to see what may be owed to your township. There are entries for townships, fire departments, and municipal authorities on the list of Unclaimed Property Owners.
