Statement of Financial Interest Ethics Forms Due Today
Elected and appointed township officials are required to file the Annual Statement of Financial Interest (SFI) with the township secretary. Note that online filing is not available for municipal officials and employees. Appointed officials on advisory only boards that cannot spend funds do not need to file.
Keep in mind that some township employees also need to file the SFI. This includes those employees responsible for taking or recommending official action for:
- Contracting or procurement;
- Administering or monitoring grants or subsidies;
- Planning or zoning;
- Inspecting, licensing, regulating, or auditing any person; or
- Any other activity where the employee can take official action that has an economic impact on any person greater than de minimis.
Not sure whether you need to file? Talk to your solicitor or reach out to the State Ethics Commission. Learn more here. Contact the Ethics Commission through their online form here or call toll-free 1-800-932-0936
