The forecast for the entire state is snow, and, depending on your location, lots of it! Protecting your community doesn’t have to wait until after something bad happens! Advance declarations of emergency are allowed. The Emergency Management Services Code  (Title 35) provides for townships to declare a local disaster emergency “upon finding a disaster has occurred or is imminent.”  

The effect of a declaration of a local disaster emergency is to activate the response and recovery aspects of applicable local emergency management plans and mutual aid agreements and to authorize the furnishing of aid and assistance. It also allows purchasing requirements to be waived during the disaster event to address the emergency situation. If your township declares a disaster emergency and is in need of resources during a disaster, request assistance through your county emergency management agency.
