The state Department of General Services allows townships to participate in the COSTARS sodium chloride (road salt) contract for the approaching August 2026 – July 2027 season, by submitting a new salt contract participation agreement by the enrollment deadline of March 15, 2026. The program allows local governments to partner with the state to gain better pricing on road salt. Contracts may be submitted electronically through the members section of the DGS COSTARS website.
