Shapiro Promotes Improvements to Speed of State Permit Review, DEP Tracking Site

Gov. Josh Shapiro is crediting his Administration’s work to speed state permit reviews as a key factor in securing a $20 billion investment from Amazon in artificial intelligence data centers in Pennsylvania. He noted the Pennsylvania Permit Fast Track program, which streamlines the Commonwealth’s permitting process for key economic development and infrastructure projects through the recently created Office of Transformation and Opportunity, which helps develop, manage, and coordinate permitting for complex projects.

Townships can track the progress of permit submissions to the state Department of Environmental Protection or check the progress by company or type of permit on the Permit Tracker launched earlier this year. The intent is to provide transparency and confidence that a permit review will be conducted and acted on in a timely manner. Click here to access the Permit Tracker. Click here for the Shapiro press release.

PSATS is interested in learning how the changes in state permit reviews have affected your township. Have you recently received a permit in a timely manner or faced unexpected delays?
