Senate Forms Task Force for Recruitment, Retention of Law Enforcement

Last week the Senate unanimously approved SR 94, which directs the Joint State Government Commission to establish a Task Force on the Recruitment and Retention of Law Enforcement. Chaired by Attorney General Dave Sunday, the Task Force will examine the current state of recruitment and retention of law enforcement officers, corrections officers, and prosecutors to provide recommendations to assist local governments and the commonwealth in staffing these important positions, including changes to state laws and practices that would assist in recruitment and retention efforts. In addition to accepting comments from individuals, the Task Force is directed to reach out state and local entities for input, including PSATS. If you have ideas that you believe could help townships improve recruitment and retention of local police officers, reach out to Holly Fishel at hfishel@psats.org or 717-763-0930 ext. 138.
