Applications for the 2026 Alternative Fuels Incentive Grants (AFIG) program are due April 1. Townships are eligible to apply, and are considered priority applicants, for funding to transition to cleaner fuel transportation (including electric, compressed or liquefied natural gas, propane, hydrogen, biodiesel, and other advanced biofuels). The program has $5 million in grant funding available towards:   

• Retrofitting vehicles to operate on alternative fuels.     

• Purchasing new alternative-fuel vehicles.    

• Purchase and installation of fleet-refueling equipment for alternative-fuel vehicles.
