PENNVEST Announces Awards for Water Grants and Loans
The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) announced grant and loan awards of $222.2 million for 31 drinking water, wastewater, and non-point source projects across 21 counties. The projects include replacing lead service lines, rehabilitating aging systems, upgrading service capabilities, and reducing environmental contaminants through compliance with current regulatory levels.
Several projects will benefit township residents:
• Buckingham Township in Bucks County received funding to reduce PFAS in drinking water;
• the Municipal Authority of Washington Township in Fayette County received a grant for water treatment plant improvements and water line replacements;
• Pennsylvania American Water received funding for PFAS remediation and treatment serving Coolbaugh Township in Monroe County and received a loan for improvements to pump stations in Center and Butler townships in Butler County;
• Aqua Pennsylvania received funds for PFAS remediation serving residents in Upper Merion and Abington townships in Montgomery County;
• the Saxton Borough Municipal Authority received a loan for wastewater pump improvements serving customers in Liberty Township in Bedford County; and
• the Robesonia-Wernersville Municipal Authority received a loan for wastewater treatment facility upgrades serving Heidelberg, Lower Heidelberg, and South Heidelberg townships and several boroughs in Berks County.
