Pa Unemployment Rate Inches Up, Remains Lower Than Federal Rate
The state Department of Labor and Industry released its preliminary employment report for September 2025. Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was up one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.1% in September compared to August. The U.S. unemployment rate of 4.4% was also up one-tenth of a point over the same time period.
Compared to September 2024, the Pennsylvania unemployment rate increased from 3.7% to 4.1%. During that same time frame, the US rate increased from 4.1% to 4.4%. Over the year, total nonfarm jobs in Pennsylvania were up by 99,900. Click here for more information.
