Organization Meeting Prep – Oath of Office Reminder

Organization Meeting Prep – Oath of Office Reminder

Newly elected and reelected township supervisors and other township elected officials must take the oath of office before they begin their official duties on January 5 as required by Act 76 of 2008. Appointed township officials also need to take the oath of office before performing duties of their respective offices. The oath must be administered by a judge, district magistrate, or notary. If your township holds a swearing-in ceremony to administer the oath, it does not need to be taken in advance. However, newly elected or reelected supervisors can take the oath now upon receipt of a certificate of election. Townships can view a copy of the oath of office by clicking here or by visiting our Resource Center (sign into your psats.org account and choose under the Programs & Services tab). The signed and attested oath must be filed with the township secretary.
