Newly Elected, Reelected Supervisors Need to Take the Oath of Office

As a reminder, newly elected and reelected township supervisors and other township elected officials must take the oath of office before they begin their official duties. Appointed officials also need to take the oath of office.

The oath may be taken after the individual receives a certificate of election for their new or reelected position. The oath may be administered by a judge, district magistrate, or notary. Here is a link to download the oath of office as required by Act 76 of 2008. Please note that clicking this link will automatically download the oath into your downloads file.

The signed and attested oath needs to be filed with the township secretary. If your township holds a swearing-in ceremony to administer the oath, it does not need to be taken in advance.
