Lt. Gov Highlights Lebanon County Regional Police Departments
Lt. Gov. Austin Davis recently highlighted creation of regional police departments in Lebanon County when discussing using state investments to build safer communities. The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency approved a $150,000 in 2024 that North Lebanon and North Cornwall Townships used to create a new regional police department by combining two existing departments. Davis has been a supporter of regional police departments when he served in the state House.
“As you can imagine, there were many moving parts in trying to form a regional police department,” said Lebanon County Regional Police Department Chief Tim Knight. “Securing the grant through PCCD gave us fiscal stability for our start-up expenses.”
“Fiscal responsibility is at the forefront of every political conversation today,” said Lebanon County Regional Police Commissioner Michael Wahmann. “Regionalization allowed us to provide a better service while being fiscally responsible to our tax base. Continued access to grants through PCCD is essential to sustaining and expanding this progress.”
Davis also mentioned the successful merger of the Annville Township and Palmyra police departments in 2024 to form the Western Lebanon County Regional Police Department, which earned state accreditation this summer. Click here for the article highlighting these regional departments.
