It’s Leaf Peeping Time! DCNR Releases First Weekly Fall Foliage Report

Pennsylvania offers one of the longest and most varied fall foliage seasons in the world. If you’re planning a trip into the great Pennsylvania outdoors, consider checking out DCNR’s interactive Fall Foliage Map to find the best spots in the state to view the autumn landscape, as well as DCNR’s Fall Foliage Reports for regional updates, photos, and expert tips.

This week’s report notes that cool nights in late August and early September jumpstarted noticeable color changes throughout Penn’s Woods. The long period of dry weather that accompanied the late summer cooldown has accelerated the transition to fall colors across the Commonwealth. Fall foliage viewers should expect vivid colors that arrive soon, but a shorter season overall. Tioga County is already showing peak colors, while the northern tier, many counties in the northeast, as well as Bedford, Blair, and Cambria, are approaching peak color. Check out the full report to find a great location to see what nature has to offer this weekend.
