Inflation Remains Steady, Natural Gas Prices Increase
The Consumer Price Index increased in December by 0.3% according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Over the last 12 months ending December 31, the all-items index increased 2.7%.
The index for shelter rose 0.4% in December and 3.2% over the year and was the largest factor in the all items monthly increase. The food index increased 0.7% over the month and rose 3.1% over the last year.
The index for energy rose 0.3% in December and 2.3% over the year. The natural gas index increased 4.4% over the month and 10.8% over the year, which will positively influence natural gas impact fee rates for 2026 payments.
