Green Light-Go Traffic Light Grants Awarded

As predicted at the PSATS public Works forum in December, last week the state Department of Transportation announced the recipients of nearly $30 million in grant awards from the Green Light-Go Grant Program. This program aims to improve traffic safety and mobility by reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. Many projects will upgrade traffic signal detection and control technology, allowing signals to respond to real-time traffic conditions, reduce congestion, and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

Thirty townships will receive these grants, many for improvements to state roads. Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursements for eligible improvements, which include improvements such as installation of light-emitting diode (LED) technology, traffic signal retiming, special-event traffic planning, traffic signal monitoring and upgrades to modern signal technologies. Below are a few highlights. Click here for the press release.
