Federal SS4A Grants to Improve Safety on Roadways Now Available 

The U.S. Department of Transportation is accepting applications for the Safe Streets & Roads for All (SS4A) grant program to support planning and demonstration projects to prevent death or serious injury on roads involving all roadway users, including pedestrians; bicyclists; public transportation, personal conveyance, and motorists; and commercial vehicle operators. Townships are eligible to apply for two types of grants through May 26, 2026.  

  1. Planning and Demonstration Grants to develop, complete, or supplement an Action Plan.     
  1. Implementation Grants to implement projects or strategies that are consistent with an existing Action Plan to address a roadway safety problem. Eligible projects and strategies can be infrastructural, behavioral, and/or operational activities.
