EQB Seeks Comments on Decreasing Manganese Limit in Surface Water

The Environmental Quality Board (EQB) is accepting public comments on a proposal to lower the limit of manganese in surface water in Pennsylvania from 1.0 milligrams per liter to 0.3 mg/L. Manganese is a naturally occurring element that is often discharged into Pennsylvania waterways from landfills, wastewater treatment facilities, power plants, and abandoned mines.

Comments are requested on two alternative points of compliance: at the point of discharge and at the point of all existing or planned potable water supply withdrawals. The comment period ends September 25, 2020. Click here for more information.
