DEP Issues Orders to Equitrans for Natural Gas Release in Jackson Township 

The state Department of Environmental Protection recently issued orders to Equitrans L.P., which operates Rager Mountain Gas Storage Reservoir and George L Reade 1 storage well in Jackson Township, Cambria County. The facility vented natural gas uncontrolled from November 6 to November 19, when it was temporarily plugged. The orders include a requirement to conduct a third-party audit of all wells and storage fields, cease injection of natural gas into the reservoir until the audit has been completed and approved, and conduct mechanical integrity testing of each well.
