CFA Announces Act 13 Grant Approvals for Flood Projects, Trails, More

The Commonwealth Finance Authority approved $14 million in Act 13 grants last week for 135 new projects last week. The projects will support flood mitigation projects, recreational trails, sewage facilities improvements, and restoring watersheds.  

Act 13 Program Approvals: 

  • Flood Mitigation Program (FMP) – Five projects were approved for $813,520 in total funding. The program provides funding for statewide initiatives to assist with flood mitigation projects. Fell Township, Lackawanna County will receive $105,000 for the 44th Street Flood Mitigation & Stormwater Project and West Whiteland Township, Chester County will receive $60,000 for the Burgoyne Road Embankment. 
  • The Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP) – 119 projects were approved for $12,122,417 in total funding. The program provides funding for the planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks, and beautification projects. Burrell Township, Indiana County will receive $75,000 for upgraded restrooms, water and sewer lines, and a program stage for Saylor Park. Derry Township, Mifflin County will receive $105,000 for Kish Park Walking Trail Phase 1. More than 40 townships across the state received grants through this program. 
  • Sewage Facilities Program (SFP) – Two projects approved; $77,529 total funding. The program provides funding for statewide initiatives for complying with the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act. Lowell Township in Lehigh County was approved for $52,529 for planning costs associated with the update to their Act 537 plan. 
  • Watershed Restoration Protection Program (WRPP) – Nine projects approved; $1,095,895 total funding. The program provides funding for watershed restoration and protection projects. New London Township, Chester County will receive $150,000 for the New London Kirk Farm Stream Restoration.
