Each year, the commonwealth presents the annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence to recognize communities for their successes in undertaking innovative projects and other initiatives to improve the quality of life in their communities. Awardees are recognized during Local Government Week in April, in the Township News and again at the PSATS conference.  

Nominate a project or initiative that your township did or a group project that your township completed with other local governments for the 2026 Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence. Projects can be nominated for any of the following categories:  

• Building Community Partnerships 
• Fiscal Accountability and Best Management Practices 
• Health & Wellness Initiatives 
• Information Technology 
• Innovative Community/Government Initiatives 
• Innovative Planning and Sound Land Use Practices 
• Intergovernmental Cooperation 
• Promoting Community/Economic Revitalization 
• Responding to Adversity
