NEW Funding towards Safe, Temporary Housing Following a Disaster

The Local Government Emergency Housing Support Program is a new program designed to provide immediate and targeted assistance to local governments responding to housing needs following natural or human-caused disasters. Townships can apply throughout the year.

Eligible uses include emergency shelters, including construction, rehabilitation, or conversion of a structure to serve as shelter or the addition of beds to existing shelters; short- or medium-term rental assistance to displaced persons; administrative grant costs; and any other uses deemed eligible by DCED. Please note, funds will only be awarded in areas where there is a local disaster declaration or areas deemed “high need” at DCED’s discretion. For more information, contact DCED at ra-dcedcs@pa.gov or 800-379-7448.
