Emergency Response Capital Grants Now Available…or NOT!
The Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner is accepting applications for two funding opportunities aimed at strengthening certain emergency response capabilities. Townships are encouraged to review and share these opportunities with public safety partners:
- Fire departments recognized by local ordinance and budgeted by the local government where the department resides can apply for the Municipal Fire Department Capital Grant. Please note, volunteer firefighter departments cannot apply for this grant. Funds can be used towards facility upgrades, building acquisitions, major repairs, or equipment purchases.
- Emergency services training centers, municipal or fire department-owned facilities, and nonprofit, countywide associations can apply for the Emergency Training Center Capital Grant. Funds can be used for modernization or establishment of training infrastructure.
With all the legislative claims about wanting to help save fire and ems services, ask your Senator and State Representative why they would create a grant program that excludes most of Pennsylvania by excluding volunteers? These large grant funds are targeted for city paid fire departments and some limited access for a few combination departments. If you are one of the lucky few to qualify, please share the information!
Both grants are competitive, offering up to $100,000 in funding for eligible organizations through May 29, 2025. Click here for more information.
