250 Years of Postal Service … and the United States!
To honor 250 years of delivering letters, bills, and birthday cards, the USPS unveiled a new set of Forever stamps and a 32-page booklet. The “250 Years of Delivering” pane of interconnected stamps illustrates a mail carrier’s journey across the seasons. The booklet features a Benjamin Franklin stamp, a modern twist on the original 1847 version. Despite recent conversations around dissolving the department, USPS continues to connect 169 million addresses through rain, shine, or federal restructuring.
We are also officially less than a year away from the 250th birthday of the United States, which will take place on July 4, 2026! America250PA was formed to celebrate this anniversary and Pennsylvania’s leading role in the birth of our nation. Townships are encouraged to plan events, observances, and other activities to highlight their community’s importance in the commonwealth over the last 250 years. Become an official partner of America250PA by approving a sample commemorative resolution at an upcoming meeting (should you choose). Click here for a copy of the commemorative resolution.
Please send approved resolutions to your state senator and representative, as well as PSATS Deputy Director of Policy and Research Katie Lizza at klizza@psats.org. Learn more at www.America250PA.org!
