Snow Declaration Applicants' Briefings

At the governor's request, the president authorized federal assistance to help affected communities recover following the severe winter storm over Presidents Day weekend. The president approved federal aid for local governments, municipal authorities, school districts and certain non-profit organizations located with 29 counties. The bulk of this assistance will be reimbursement for certain snow removal costs necessary to provide emergency access incurred within a 48 hour period. This is a 75% federal / 25% local program. Since the work is already complete, the program provides 75% federal reimbursement for eligible snow removal costs.

While this is a federal program and all funding is federal, PEMA administers the program in Pennsylvania. As such, we will be conducting a series of six applicants' briefings starting on March 26. The schedule is attached.

It is essential that a representative from each eligible organization attend the meeting designated for their county. They will receive detailed information on what is eligible, how to apply and the actual application materials at the meeting.

Only representatives from communities, municipal authorities, school districts and non-profit organizations located with a declared county should attend the briefing.
