| Description: |
The Office of Open Records was created to enforce the state’s Right-to-Know law, which took eff ect on January 1, 2009. The Office serves as a resource for citizens, public officials and members of the media in obtaining public records of their government.
This workshop is intended for the Open Records Officers, as well as local government officials and staff, to allow them an opportunity to see how the Law is working in Pennsylvania. Staff from the Office of Open Records will review final determinations that are in place, and what they mean to local governments. They will go over the steps necessary to draft a well-written denial letter, how to deal with voluminous requests and difficult requestors, and what is, and is not, a public record. This interactive workshop will provide attendees with an in-depth look at where we are – one year later – as the Right-to-Know law enters into its second year. |
| Outline: |
During this workshop, the speaker will address the following Topics, relative to the Right-to-Know Law:
• Final Determinations
• Responding to Requests
• What is Open, and What is Not?
