Federal Brownfields Grants Available

Tuesday October 29th, 2019
Townships with brownfields may apply for funding under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Brownfields Program, which offers multipurpose, assessment, revolving loan fund, and cleanup (MARC) grants. The deadline for applications is December 3, 2019.

MARC grants may be used to address sites contaminated by hazardous substances, pollutants, contaminants, and petroleum, including hazardous substances comingled with petroleum.

The individual grant types are:

• Assessment grants, which provide funding for brownfield inventories, planning, environmental assessments, and community outreach.

• Revolving loan fund grants, which provide funding to capitalize loans for cleaning up brownfield sites.

• Cleanup grants, which provide funding to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites owned by the applicant.

• Multipurpose grants, which provide funding to conduct a range of eligible assessment and cleanup activities at one or more brownfield sites in a target area.

For more information, visit the EPA's MARC grants page.
