DEP Grant Program for Medium- to Light-Weight Natural Gas Vehicles to Begin in April
As the first round of natural gas vehicle grants for heavy-duty vehicles comes to a close, the state Department of Environmental Protection will begin accepting grant applications in April for medium to light-weight natural gas vehicles. Approximately $10 million in grants will be available through the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program for local governments, nonprofit agencies, and for-profit companies.
The grant funds will be available for projects to convert or purchase natural gas vehicles weighing less than 14,000 pounds. Funds may also be used to convert or purchase electric, propane, or other alternative fuel vehicles of any size.
There will be a five-vehicle minimum required for each grant application. Therefore, applicants interested in purchasing or converting one or two alternative fuel vehicles should consider submitting a joint application.
