L&I Adopts Most Recent Accessibility Standards for Buildings
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has adopted the latest revisions to the International Building Code standards for accessible and usable buildings and structures as part of the state’s Uniform Construction Code.
The adoption of these standards is in accordance with Act 1 of 2011, which requires the department to annually update accessibility standards for the construction, repair, or alteration of buildings.
The final-form rulemaking brings the commonwealth’s standards for accessible and usable buildings up to date and confirms to standards issued by the U.S. Department of Justice under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
