New Gallup Survey Shows Citizens Still Place Greatest Trust in Local Government

Thursday September 27th, 2012

The annual governance survey from Gallup shows that among residents nationwide, 74 percent say they trust local government a great deal or a fair amount, while 65 percent say that for state government, 54 percent for the federal executive branch, and 34 percent for Congress.

Gallup attributes the higher number for local governments to two factors:the proximity of local officials and the less partisan nature of local governments.
