| Description: |
Congratulations! You’re a township supervisor...now what?
First, congratulations on your election as a township supervisor, and if you are an incumbent, welcome back! Thank you for choosing to serve your community in this important role. In a time when people are drawn in many directions, both personally and professionally, it is important to have public servants such as yourself who are dedicated to providing the residents of this Commonwealth the services and programs they have fought to preserve. By now, you are most likely realizing the many challenges facing you as a supervisor. YOU are now responsible for deciding issues of taxation, spending, growth management, zoning, roads and streets, code enforcement, environment, as well as police and fire issues, among others. How can you best prepare to deal with these issues? You can begin by attending the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS) 2010 Newly Elected Officials Training Program, “What Every Township Supervisor Needs to Know.” |
| Instructors: |
Instructors will vary from location to location. In addition to the professionals from Pennoni Associates, all instructors are highly skilled, experienced township officials or local government specialists who have taught for the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services, the Pennsylvania Departments of Environmental Protection and Transportation, the Department of General Services, the PA Local Government Investment Trust (PLGIT) or the PSATS Trustees Insurance Program. |
| Who Should Attend: |
This workshop is designed for newly elected township supervisors and incumbent officials who are looking for updates and changes in legislation, as well as a refresher on their responsibilities. The training will also be useful to municipal secretaries who work with and assist elected township supervisors. |
