- Complying with a seemingly mile-long list of employment laws can be daunting for any township, but it’s necessary whether you have four employees or 40. Documentation, training, and enforcement are some of the keys to staying out of court.
Experts say that every township should be doing employee evaluations. You have to be absolutely honest, though, and document everything — even poor job performance — so it doesn’t come back to haunt you.
- PSATS Director of Township Services Marian Nailor will hang up her phone and retire on October 31 after nearly 40 years with the Association. She may be leaving, but she will never be forgotten.
- New regulations under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act change which employees can receive overtime pay. Enforcement will be strict, so townships should work with their solicitors to learn the regulations and review all job classifications now.
- PSATS President Donna Mindek congratulates townships on stepping up to the plate to administer the statewide building code.
